| "I Googled fall turkey hunting and found your wonderful website. There's not a whole lot of info out there about fall hunting, I guess now a days everyone's only worried about spring gobblers. I'm 26 and killed my first gobbler in the spring when I was 14 years old, after I watched him strut 75 yards through the Virginia hardwoods I was hooked. I hunted turkeys in the fall as much as I could, blind calling and calling in the occasional scattered gang. Three years ago a pointer cross about three months old showed up in my yard, wormy and under nourished. I put out fliers and spread the word about this found dog, after a month she was never claimed so I kept her." |
| "I had a pair of tame turkeys in a pen out of
sight of the dog pen. One evening I came in from work to
find that she had gotten out of her pen and was circling
the turkey's, barking every breath. A light bulb went off
in my head, three days later I put her on the trail of a
fairly large gang I had seen heading into some planted
pines. The turkey's were about 200 yards ahead of her and
she took off in the right direction. I heard some cackling
and then her barking, she ran turkeys in every direction,
barking her head off until all were off the ground. Text
book flush, and she has been doing it ever since. I guess
the man up stairs wanted me to know what fall turkey
hunting was all about, because I have a turkey dog purely
by accident." 1/2/2007 |
"Here is a
picture of my hunting buddy Hamden Seay, his son, one of
his friends and myself with the first turkeys ever killed
with my Lily. I am kneeling on the right and Hamden (aka
Buttons) is holding Lily. This photo was taken in 2003,
she had scattered this gang in text book fashion and we
were lucky enough to get one of the boys a shot along with
me, hopefully turning them into turkey addicts like the
rest of us. I'm still waiting to upload some of this
seasons pics, I'll send those as soon as I get them up.Hamden is fine with this, up until the time I got Lily he had not fall turkey hunted with a dog since he was my age. I think the last couple of seasons have brought back alot of fond memories for him." |
| "Here is another picture of
Lily and some of this years turkeys that myself and
some hunting buddies harvested. The wing bone call is
from the first turkey we killed with Lily. It sounds
good but after I painted it I thought it was too
pretty to hunt with. The things with the turkey track
on them are "diced" deer antler that I sanded and
polished. There is also a deer antler striker picture
coming soon." |

have a 10 month old pointer/setter cross named Cooper for
sale. He came from a long line of turkey dogs, he's smart,
really birdy and he will flat bay a penned domestic turkey
but I haven't had time to hunt him. Due to work schedule
changes I won't have time to break him. I'd like $150 for
him if you're interested." 4/22/12 5/4/12 Dog is SOLD: "Hey Jon, thanks so much for your help, Cooper went to a new home today!" Kevin |
