'Deadeye' Tommy Barnham and his wild turkey hunting dog Zeke from Virginia

I credit Mr John Byrne and his son J.T. the most in promoting fall turkey dog hunting.
Mr. Byrne and J.T. breed and raise the finest turkey dogs in the world.
I have been privileged to now own two of their dogs, Zeke and Magnum.

After 9 years hunting with Zeke, without a doubt fall turkey hunting with my dogs is my favorite thing to do.
A friend asked me one time - if I could only hunt one thing the rest of my life, and I could have all the resources to do it, what would it be?
I replied fall turkey hunting with dogs before he could finish his question!

The dogs are just a tool in helping you find and flush the turkeys.
A lot of times, even if the dogs flushed turkeys, you still don't see them, or call any back.
Having a dog is still no guarantee that you will find or get a wild turkey.
After hunting all day, even if we hadn't found any turkeys, I enjoyed the
companionship with my dogs, watching them hunt, and enjoying their affection.
