'Pixie" at 15 months old (born 5/5/10), is 1/2 English Pointer & 1/2 English Setter, from VA.

"Autumn turkey hunters also occasionally use dogs, which do the work of finding flocks of wild turkeys. The dog runs into the flock and chases the birds, barking and scattering them in several directions. Afterward, the hunter sits down, camouflages his dog (which is trained to sit quietly), and begins to call the wild turkeys back to the gun. Dogs used for hunting wild turkeys during the fall season are probably the least available of all hunting dog breeds. Small terriers are often the dogs of choice for this duty, although setters and other breeds are occasionally used." He studied journalism at WVU, and his work appeared in newspapers statewide. He wrote two books on hunting and fishing before his untimely death in 2005.

West Virginia is the only state located wholly within the Appalachian Mountains.

Rev. J. D. Kitchen did a lot of turkey hunting with a dog between 1939 and 1943. He was the pastor of the Louisa VA Christian Church, formerly of the Graham Christian Church in Louisa, VA.
